Absolutely stunning piece of furniture. The contrast between the old, deeply grooved wood and the sleek metal handles and legs works perfectly. It’s also totally solid and sturdy and incredibly well made. The shelves and drawers are a good size and actually fit more than I thought they were going to.
It comes almost fully made, but needs the legs attaching separately - very easy to do, but it is incredibly heavy and needs at least 2 strong people (we needed 3) to move it and put it onto its back to be able to attach the legs.
The only reason I have taken off 1 star is because of the delivery company that Artico chose to use - they would text or call and to say they would be delivering it the next day, and if you said you weren’t in, you wouldn’t hear from them for up to a week, when they would again call to say they were coming the next day That’s fine if you work from home or have a flexible job, but I couldn’t just take time off work with less than 12 hours notice.
I tried explaining to the lady on the phone that I just needed a little more notice, or I could tell them the days I wasn’t working, otherwise I would just have to keep turning down delivery days - she would just pretend she was going to try and sort it to get me off the phone then do nothing (this happened multiple times).
Artico were very helpful when I emailed and replied almost immediately with the delivery company’s details so I could sort it with them directly, but unfortunately when I emailed the delivery company’s customer service line, despite sending a lovely reply saying they understood and would contact me to arrange a specific day for delivery, I never heard anything back.
I ended up turning down 5 or 6 delivery days and finally only got it delivered (over a month after it should have been) by having a friend come and stay at my apartment to accept the delivery.
I’ve had a lot of furniture delivered during lockdown, and no other delivery company expects you to arrange to be in with 12 hours notice - they all let you either pick a date that suits you, or give you close to a week’s notice.
As you can see, despite receiving a beautiful piece of furniture, I’ve spent the majority of the review talking about the delivery, because it just put a sour on the whole interaction, and would actually make me consider buying from Artico again because it was so frustrating.
